Mirza’s charges should not be ignored: JI

LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Syed Munawwar Hasan said allegations levelled by Zulfiqar Mirza were very serious and should not be ignored. Talking to the media at Mansoorah after the Eid prayers, as per a press release, he said the Supreme Court had already taken notice of the matter and should summon Mirza as a witness.

He said the rulers were US slaves and advancing the American agenda. The JI chief said conditions were being created in the country akin to the fall of Dhaka. Earlier, in his address to the Eid congregation at the Mansoorah mosque, Munawwar Hasan reiterated that the war on terror was not our war, it was a US war and owning it would only darken Pakistan’s future.

He advised the rulers to pull out of this war forthwith and drone attacks would stop with that. He said the chief of the air staff had said that PAF could down the drones but the JI chief wondered why the government was not allowing it. He said only if the Nato supplies were cut off, the drone attacks would stop. However, instead of this, the government was giving more facilities to the Nato. No other nation in the world would facilitate its enemy in such a manner, he added.

The JI chief said that situation in Karachi was being worsened deliberately to complete the enemy agenda. Similarly, there was a plot to tear apart the mineral rich Balochistan from this country so that the enemy could grab it. He said as long as the people voted for MQM, target killings and extortion would continue. Therefore, it was a high time for the people of Karachi and Hyderabad not to vote for the MQM, he added.

Syed Munawwar Hasan said the biggest problem of the Pakistani nation was US slavery. He said if being a Muslim was terrorism, then 18o million Pakistanis were terrorists. He said the JI firmly believed that the democratic process was bringing about a change in the country. However, if the deprivations of the people continued and they lost faith in the process, they could take up arms, which would have dangerous consequences. He announced the JI would hold a referendum against the US on Sept 30 and later stage a sit-in against loadshedding, drone attacks, price hike and US slavery, on October 2.
