Pakistan has one of the cheapest and most suitable workforce for auto assembly plant. Therefore, TOP foreign auto manufacturers should be lobbied to come to Pakistan and start manufacturing here not only for local market but also for export purpose.

Government should stop being greedy and deregulate auto manufacturing industry in Pakistan. Abolish all evil taxation and invite all to come, build here and export especially to middle-east. Give up small revenue to generate more jobs and more economic activity. You can always recover same amount of revenue by collecting through annual registration and inspection fees.

That would be great

Middle east is big importer of vehicles. English speaking young labor widely available in Pakistan. Also labor costs are very low in Pakistan.

But government is sleeping on this front or they are wasting time with Chinese auto manufacturers who's cars will never be allowed to enter in to western markets.

Yes because Japanese are the real culprits.

I think if Khan meets Donald Trump. He should straight forward ask him to help establish our auto industry like they helped Japanese and Koreans.

I am sure they can make a deal over this. With American R&D on our back, we can start rolling out our own brand of cars and take Japanese head on.

Another option is to spend some serious $$$ and buy an existing American brand and then bring their manufacturing processes in Pakistan.

With over 90% imported parts and also profit of Toyota Pakistan are sent to their headquarters in Japan. So Pakistan gets nothing beside few job and overpriced low quality fortuner that can't be exported to anyone.

Its no easy task. Factories are basically where car are assembled, engines, suspension components, interior etc etc is all manufactured off site and mostly by subcontractors. So you need to have top notch local suppliers that can supply all that.

That's why most cars are only assembled in countries in Pakistan not actually manufactured there, because of lack of quality suppliers.

Its not impossible but needs time.
