Swiss cabinet okays information sharing agreement with Pakistan

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Swiss cabinet on Tuesday authenticated the information sharing agreement with Pakistan.

According to a notification issued by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), the FBR has amended Article 25 (exchange of information) to access banking/financial information.

In respect of Article 25, the exchange of information will be applicable for information concerning facts that relate to any fiscal year beginning on or after the first day of January of the year next following the date of signature of the Convention.

Under the revised convention, the provisions of the said Convention shall come into force from November 29, 2018 and shall have effect in Pakistan for any fiscal year beginning on or after July 01 of the calendar year next following that of the entry into force of the Convention.

This issue had been lingering on since year 2000. We are in 2019 now.
Do you think that crooks have not transferred all this money during that time?
The value of the agreement is only -- if its effective retroactively.

So it will come into effect July1, 2019. That is a shame indeed, becuase there will a mad scramble by thieves to move their stolen fudns and assets out of Switzerland to other offshore havens before that date. I wish it oculd have been backdated to like, 1970. Flush out all the bandits. Name and shame them, dead or alive.
