Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday telephoned his newly elected Indian counterpart Narendra Modi on his Bharatiya Janata Party's electoral victory in the Indian election, Foreign Office spokesperson Dr Mohammad Faisal said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) increased its majority in India's election with its best-ever tally of 303 seats on Friday. The main opposition party, the Indian National Congress, trailed the BJP with 52 of the 543 seats in parliament.

Prime Minister Imran expressed his desire for both countries to work together for betterment of their people, Dr Faisal said.

The premier, reiterating his vision for peace, progress and prosperity in South Asia, said that he looked forward to working with Modi to advance these objectives.

اسلام آباد: وزیراعظم عمران کے معاونِ خصوصی اور مشیر برائے سیاسی امور نعیم الحق نے تصدیق کی ہے کہ عمران خان اور نریندر مودی کی 15 منٹ تک ٹیلی فون پر گفتگو ہوئی۔

انہوں نے بتایا کہ عمران خان نے مودی کو کال کر کے دوبارہ بھاری اکثریت سے منتخب ہونے پر مبارک باد پیش کی اور ساتھ ہی مسئلہ کشمیر سمیت حل طلب مسائل پر مذاکرات کی دعوت بھی دی۔

نعیم الحق کا کہنا تھا کہ وزیراعظم نے مودی کے سامنے مؤقف پیش کیا کہ پاکستان اور بھارت کے درمیان امن قائم کر کے ہی عوام کو خوشحالی دی جاسکتی ہے۔

قبل ازیں اطلاع سامنے آئی تھی کہ وزیر اعظم عمران خان نے پڑوسی ملک بھارت کے وزیر اعظم نریندر مودی کو فون کر کے دوسری بار انتخابات میں جیت پر مبارک باد دی۔


دفتر خارجہ کے ترجمان نے کہا ہے کہ عمران خان نے بھارتی وزیر اعظم نریندر مودی کو فون کر کے انتخابات میں کام یابی پر مبارک باد دی اور مستقبل میں عوام کی بہتری کے لیے ساتھ کام کرنے کی بھی پیش کش کی۔

ٹیلی فونک رابطے میں وزیر اعظم پاکستان کا کہنا تھا کہ خطے میں امن اور ترقی کے لیے مل کر کام کرنا چاہتے ہیں۔ یاد رہے کہ تین دن قبل بھی وزیر اعظم عمران خان نے انتخابات میں کام یابی پر ٹویٹر پر نریندر مودی کو مبارک باد دی تھی، جس کا بھارتی وزیر اعظم نے شکریہ ادا کیا۔

وزیر اعظم نے لکھا کہ نریندر مودی اور ان کے اتحادیوں کو الیکشن جیتنے پر مبارک باد دیتا ہوں، نریندر مودی کے ساتھ خطے میں امن، ترقی اور خوش حالی کے لیے کام کرنے کا خواہش مند ہوں۔

واضح رہے کہ بھارت کے پارلیمانی انتخابات میں بی جے پی اور اس کی اتحادی جماعتوں نے 345 نشستیں اپنے نام کی ہیں۔
