Right person was appointed for the job. I saw his press conference and performance slides. With him on board, PIA can rebound. We need same kind of people in Steel Mill and other govt institutes so they make profit and revenue for Pakistan

Tension kee baat nahi Boss!!. Why they give wrong Info to general Public. Let them give the Income statement instead of revenue statement. 100 Rs Ticket ke price increase karain to revenue barh jata hai.

Save my post till the end of year. Aur saal k akhir main news parh lana." PIA ko arbon ka Loss, PIA k chairmain ko Tabdeel dya gya, aur NAB ne corruption k casese khol dyey""

This is a short story of Pakistan.

He only claimed to break even at operating profit, not net profit. For positive net profit, PIA needs another 3 to 4 years

This is another bulshit story. increase in revenue doesn't mean profit. revenue every year increase because of inflation, devaluation and other circumstances. main thing is a reduction in surplus expenses, overheads and administrative expenses. Income statement tells the real story not the revenue.

every govt tells the same story and finally PIA ends up in huge losses.....

No it doesn't...

However, it does mean that we are not losing R. 200 Billions per month!!!

Privatize the elephant.................hope Hafeez shiekh does that .................
I agree. Govt should not own a business when the market has reached a point of open competition. It is only advisable if some technology or business needs to be introduced in the market. It is an advisable strategy when Govt needs to give a stimulus in a particular field... an impetus to roll the wheel. But when the wheel is running, govt should get to the steering to guide it through policies and legislation. Otherwise, the lucrative opportunities will always lure the Govt officials and Ministers etc.

It is a double edged sword. If Govt keeps its business in an open competition market, then either it will loose because of heavy bureaucratic culture and slow decision making (and corruption off course), or either Govt will be too successful in the business by availing all the leverages it can.

However, in the latter case, the loss of government is greater because in this way Govt will shy away the other investors, making it more likely that the revenue it can generate by only taxing the Private sector corporations. Moreover, by allowing a free float competition in the market, the people will get better services at lower costs. So its like the devil and the deep sea, in case of Govt owning a commercial business like PIA

bhai aur kiya mangta hay tu. kiya bachay ke jaan lay gaa

No where in the world does Airforce run commercial airline. These officers are just not trained for private commercial bussinesses. Privatize PIA and all state owned businesses.

This would be the task of the privatization commission, which works under ministry of commerce and industry.
