So its almost clear now, the pilot screwed up his decent and let his "get there-itis" take over rather than follow SOP and go around well ahead of time, in all this hurried up confusion forgot to lower his gear, scrapped his engines on the tarmac, got startled and thought "oh shit" and immediately initiated a go around and it was at that moment, everybody on that aircraft save 2 people were doomed.

The pilot used his old practice and scraped the engines. if they had their landing gear deployed and locked it would have been a normal landing. I don't know anything about flying an airplane.
