PEMRA tells channels to not air special programmes on Eid

پاکستان الیکٹرانک میڈیا ریگولیٹری اتھارٹی (پیمرا) نے نجی ٹی وی چینلز سے اپیل کی ہے کہ عیدالاضحیٰ کے موقع پر پہلے سے ریکارڈ کئے گئے یا براہ راست ایسے پروگرام نشر کرنے سے گریز کریں جو قوم اور کشمیری بھائیوں کے جذبات کو مجروح کریں۔

پیمرا کی جانب سے جاری نوٹیفکیشن میں تمام نیوز اور اینٹرٹینمنٹ چینل سے درخواست کی گئی ہے کہ کشمیریوں پر بھارتی مظالم کے تناظر میں عید الاضحیٰ کی تعطیلات میں ایسے تمام پروگرام نشر کرنے سے گریز کیا جائے جو قومی جذبات کو بھڑکانے اور کشمیری بھائیوں کی دلی تکلیف کا باعث بنیں۔

پیمرا کا کہنا ہے کہ 14 اگست کو یوم آزادی کو بہادر کشمیریوں سے اتحاد یکجہتی کے طور پر منایا جائے گا جبکہ بھارتی یوم آزادی 15 اگست کو یوم سیاہ کے طور پر منائیں گے، اس موقع پر قومی پرچم سرنگوں رہے گا۔

الیکٹرانک میڈیا ریگولیٹری اتھارٹی نے ٹی وی چینلز کو تجویز کیا ہے کہ وہ مقبوضہ کشمیر میں بھارتی مظالم کو اجاگر کرنے کیلئے اپنے لوگو 15 اگست 2019ء کو بلیک اینڈ وائٹ کردیں۔

پیمرا نے 8 اگست کو جاری اپنے ایک اور نوٹیفکیشن میں ٹی وی چینلز کو ہدایت کی تھی کہ وہ ٹاک شوز میں بھارتی صحافیوں، صحافی، تجزیہ کار اور مشہور شخصیت کو مدعو نہ کریں۔

The paid crooks on media protecting the monetary and political interests of their media houses. We don’t want to watch brainless film/ media industry people telling their stupid family stories and crap jokes and highlighting ideas of Independence day. There must be some intellectual debate and analysis on the need of Independence and rationale of the Two Nations Theory; and related issues of national development, diplomacy in correlation to the changing world dynamics. The need is to educate our people not to highlight acrobatic posture and snobbish success stories of film/drama people and reporters turned self-proclaimed anchor persons.

If you dont want to watch it, then dont watch it. TV channels run on TRPs. if something is not popular they will remove it. I strongly disagree with this notification from PEMRA.
Atmost the PEMRA should have asked the channels to air atleast 1 to 2 programs related the Kashmir topic.

Also stopping the Channels to interview Indian Journalists is a bad decision, there is a sizable number of Indians who have opposed the BJP led Kashmir move, theres no harm in interviewing them.

Under no case should the channels be dictated. This is the very definition of press freedom. Its not about whether the cause is important to be dictated. But it sets a precedent, today this is used for a just cause, but tomorrow the same power might be misused by this or the other govt.

Number one its not a ban but rather an advice secondly kashmir is not an issue of PTI or pmln but rather a national issue third freedom of speech also has its limits no one is allowed to spread hate on religious and ethnic lines nazis are not allowed to propagate their believes so freedom of speech is not unlimited.
