those who actually have critical way of thinking can find their way around any attempts to subdue their thoughts. If you cant find a way around it you aren't thinking critically.

You can disagree with him on a 1000 topics a million times but here he is right. Pakistani education system does not educate or train in critical thinking, why do you think 50% of the awam is running behind kandoori jahil moulvis, jaali peers and fraudia aamil babas and the other 50% running behind corrupt dakus like Zardaku and ganj khandan.

this trend started from days of Auyub Khan.

Yahya Khan continued the practice to curb criticism on his failed leadership and governance.

Zia, took it one step further by using Quran and Shariaa to punish critics both emotionally and physically

Mushara, to his credit, gave free hand to the country in quest for "enlighten moderation"

Today, I bet Niazi dnt even know whats happening and its "them" trying to capture a new feather in enforcing a greater dictatorial punishment for those who dare criticize their BS. But, historian will attribute this BS to Nikka !

I don’t disagree with some of his points, but what gets me, is his blind hate and disdain for IK and other dedicated leaders. These Asma Jehangir types have sold their souls for international acceptance.

Valid criticizm is not only important for growth of society but it is also Sunnat.

When Hazrat Ibrahim destroyed the idols and mocked the pagans to ask their biggest idol who destroyed the idols that was criticizm of the dominant religion and order of the time. Without this basic concept society cannot improve or move forward.

By "critical thinking" self proclaimed intellectuals mean criticism of Islam and the creation of Pakistan should be condoned and encouraged.

He gives lectures regularly in beaconhouse...... Kids beforehand are requested by admin of beaconhouse not to question his views of God and religion in question answer session ...... Why?? ..... Is it that he just believes in parroting his own views and doesn’t want to take any critical question.??..... Or is it that he is not able to defend his absurd theories ..... Anyways he has written a lot against two nation theory but during recent Delhi religion riots he writings were confused and superficial...... This is true for many other liberals of Pakistan who otherwise are very vocal on issues of miniorities but were deathly silent during Delhi pogram...... The general understanding that these so called intellectuals peddle to an agenda is the most damaging to their critical thinking not being heard to ..... The fact that they are not able to influence as they used to a decade back is hurting them ..... And the best way to gain few eyeballs in west and endia is to curse the establishment and state ......

Criticism within reason is fine and acceptable. As I say on Pak TV channels it means saying nothing good at all about anything. This gives listeners a massive inferiority complex that we are nothing, that so bad is life that committing suicide would be a better option. The purpose is to make the massive number of watching viewers question the creation of Pakistan and even the truth of Islam. Most of these armchair critics who have made millions through corruption are mostly sold out to the enemy countries. We are talking of modern not ancient times here. Prophet's of Allah or even the rightly guided Caliph's did not have access to media channels or the internet where they could influence so many people, simultaneously.

Who is questioning creation of Pakistan? Even the Pakistani vocal critics of Islam that I have met from overseas have a very strong emotional connection to their country and want Pakistan to progress.

I know Dr Akmal, he is really a great person not like usual dissenters who attack Pakistan and Islam. In fact he has a deep sense of spirituality and he is much right about lack of tolerance and critical thinking in society. I am sad such a terrible thing happened to such a great guy

My dear friend, critical thinking is not a monopoly of libtards who have no contribution other then stirring futile controversies and making a mockery of Pakistan every single day.Can you please enlighten us about the contributions made by Dr Hoodhbhoy in the field of Physics,Ammar Ali Jan in humanities or Taimoor Rehman in Political sciences????The only contribution they have is “gaining undue media attention” by discussing Two Nation Theory or the role of Army in Pakistan(Which is discussed by everyone so they are not an exception).Everyone in Pakistan believes that most of the institutions (including the armed forces) have not been functioning well due to the vested interests of either the Generals or politicians or judges,so there is nothing new being discussed.Every Pakistani wants Generals not to become property dealers rather we want them to defend Pakistan. We want politicians to improve governance and relinquish corrupt practices and nepotism/favouritism.Everyone wants judges to act for upholding justice and not to indulge in sloganeering and political gimmicks. This is what all of us want, but to single out the Army and start bashing the state(which has made them a Privileged class)just to gain attention across the world is nothing more then intellectual prostitution.
