I think I like it.

Can we make something like this for Pakistan that can be attached to a chingchi? Just tell her to take you to the sabzimandi?

We would see affordable commercial self driving cars within next 5-7years on the roads. Unfortunately this would only happen in advanced countries not in Pakistan or even India which is the low cost development location for all the companies building autonomous driving technology. The reason is massive traffic irregularities, not enough paved roads, highways or traffic signs as currently developed technologies rely heavily on standard deterministic environment models. AI would take some time to kick in. And then there would be networking protocols for communication between cars. But our country is far behind to deploy such technologies.

Autonomous driving is the future of automotive industry and almost every company is investing in India for expanding their low cost locations while we are still praising a chor and his family for building a highway. Pakistan is losing too much on technology side and to be honest I am also not seeing current govt realizing this. We have potential to compete India as a low cost engineering location and generate billions of dollars in revenue but alas we are too ignorant.

Ideally, this would work well only if all of the cars on the roads were made by the same manufacturer. But considering that all will be made by different companies, miscommunication is a big danger, and will happen. In any case, tech is advancing real fast on this....so hopefully we will have good news in our life times..

Computers rarely mis communicate unless they are explicitly instructed to. Autonomous vehicles is a good option because human oftenly are not good drivers.

I wouldnt say 'rarely'. Most of the phones in this world run on android, made by different manufacturers. Those phones cant always seamlessly talk to each other, unless made by the same manufacturer. Im not saying its impossible, but there are kinks to be worked out, plus, companies will always be protective of intellectual property, and hence, communication will always come with limitations.

Communication between vehicles is not necessary for this to work but would enhance the security further. There are autonomously driving vehicles being developed solely based on camera and radar technologies to model environment around a vehicle just like we as humans do with our eyes and drive/brake based on that. Infact partially autonomous cars are quite common in Europe now a days with features like emergancr brake assist, ACC, Lane departure warning, automatic parking, traffic sign recognition etc. It would take another 5-7 years to have fully autonomous vehicles available. There are some available e.g. some Tesla cars but they can also autopilot only in special conditions e.g on highway.

That is why we have protocols and ISO standards.Autonomous cars manufacturing does not mean that everyone can get a license like the cellphone manufacturers these days. yesterday magic is today science!!
