The lacklustre support for this recent monetary policy was already evident in our stock market beating today. The world is going through extra ordinary circumstances, and corona virus is bound to close most of our sick manufacturing units. This would not only raise unemployment to unprecedented levels but would also be detrimental to our already crippled economy .
In light of this prevailing situation the business community needed a morale boost. They already have an uneven playing field compared to other South Asian countries for e.g Bangladesh who provide cheaper electricity to their industry to generate employment and build foreign reserves. Shoring up reserves by way of hot money in t bills is not the solution.
I appeal once again that thorough deliberation be done and the reins of the economy shouldn't be just in the hands of IMF imported wizards like Hafeez Sheikh and Raza Baqir. Involve Hafeez Pasha and all the other brains and come to a consensus that is beneficial to the masses and the country sans IMF influence.

Pakistan economy behaves differently and less reliant on Tourism and Exports (as of now) so policy rate is as per the Pakistan economy and can't be compared with other countries.

Export is likely to drop as a result of CoVid in coming months but key factor is the inflation and SBP is rightly concerned about it. But they have also said to intervene is needed later so all is not lost yet.

Can you guys please refrain from political bashing? For a moment assume Nawaz,Zardai,Imran etc sub kuttey hain. Likin aab thand kha ker aam awam ka socho. Jab nayi factoriyan nhi lagai gi, Purani factoriyan ko shrink demand ke waja se order nhi ayay ga tu is ke natejay mai kya hoga? Us seth aur businessman ko tu nuksan nhi hoga. People will be laid off from jobs, they wouldn't be able to earn haq halal do waqt ki roti. The country will suffer too as a result of economic melt down. Grow up and kindly suggest a way that works for everyone.
