I wish some Pakistan friendly strong government takes over Afghanistan for good then the two governments negotiate to sell Wakhan strip to Pakistan and we have direct border with Tajikistan and have a direct link beyond.

Durand line and Wakhan strip are legacy of the Great Game between Britain and Russian empire. Afghan govt does not recognize these agreements. Even though Wakhan is virtually separate from Afghanistan, no actual modern roads go there since 100 years, the people there do not have a clue about Soviet war or US invasion. Afghanistan wont sell it to Pakistan but will use it as a bargaining chip to discredit the Durand Line which will not happen. Their Durand line claim is a dead issue.

Well there is a way, if China helps that is. Once our N35 Road crosses Khunjrab Pass into China and it turns into Chinese National Highway G314, 50kms into it, its only 20kms across from the Tajik border and another 20 to a road already existing on the tajik side of the border. Although there is a mountain range in the middle!

In total hardly a 100km diversion to bypass the Wakhan corridor, but everything will have to come and go through China

Although there is a mountain range in the middle!

Tajikistan produces in access twice the quantity of electricity it needs locally. That country is always eager to sell that access electricity to any customer at a dirt cheap rates. Since Afghanistan has no industry, therefore the only option Tajikistan has is, to sell it to energy hungry Pakistan. The 2 governments has already entered into a bilateral agreement but incumbent Afghan govt under the influence of India is not allowing to lay the infrastructure thru Wakhan.
Additionally, its not only about Tajikistan. Through Tajikistan Pakistan can capture a huge market to sell his various products to all the central asian states together with Russia. Its a huge untapped market.
