This is I think what has happened:
Imran Khan really wants to stand from NA 55 but knows that a PML-N candidate from there will win so he wants PML-N to not nominate any candidate from NA 55 and instead support him. So PTI suggest this to PML-N but PML-N shot it down as they dont like Imran Khan plus they think they can easily win this seat.
So Imran Khan change the course and decide to stand from NA 123 against Nawaz Shariff. This is pressure politics from Imran Khan and shows he is now using his head wisely. Imran Khan has an even less chance to win this seat especially considering that PPP will support Nawaz Shariff on this seat. But the point is Nawaz Shariff brave enough for the elections on NA 123 to be that high profile and dissected on national media day and night? Do he want to wash his dirty laundry in public? If he is not then he will take the easy route: Imran Khan will support Nawaz Shariff on NA 123 and Nawaz Shriff will support Imran Khan on NA 55.

the fact that PTI and Imran have the guts to stand up to anyone and everyone, even if Nawaz Sharif wins, PTI will benefit. This will be big for PTI, very good move. Usually Punjab is the province which brings about change in Pakistan, and Lahore being the major city, i guess this shows PTI is now feeling confident about themselves. Signs are good.
