Ijma needed for reforms in Haj arrangements

Ever since Haj was first ordained and performed by our Holy Prophet (PBUH), there have been many changes/modifications in the arrangements of Haj. In the begining it was travelling for Haj on camels, but now aeroplanes and motor vehicles are used.

Recently the size of the pillars of 'Jarmarat' (signifying satan) have been changed from what they have been for centuries because of the difficulty in performing of the ritual by many due heavy population of Hajis doing same at a time. Like wise the path between the Hills of safa and marwa have been covered and airconditioned. Most of all the Khana Kaaba is now in a trough surrounded by tall commercial sky crapers.

These are all changes from the original conditions of Haj environment. If these can be done without affecting the technical requirements and Faraiz of Haj, why can't Ijma be carried out to address pressing issues.

The most important issue is the joint tawaf of male and female. This causes men and women who are namuhram to come in close proximity and even touch or brush each other involuntarily due to the rush. The act of segregation being basic in Islam, this issue can be addressed by keeping different block timings of let's say two hours each for each gender. The companions can wait outside. Similarly many issues can be considered in the Ijma to make the process of Haj more convenient and practicable staying within the bounds of sharia.

throughout the year the government should give two hours for women only and two hours for men only for Tawaf. The rest of 20 hours it may remain open for mixed tawaf.
