How to use sea water for Agriculture and Drinking

Can we create a very cheap and alternative method to use sea water all along Pakistan Coastal waters for agricultural and domestic use? and what effect it will have on the marine life?

Right now there are two methods mainly used all across the world.

1. Boiling
2. Membrane

Considering the fact that Most of the coastal areas do not have much population and very cheap land resources are available.

Is it possible to use a combination of lenses for evaporation and condensation technology with solar power to be used for power generation?

Considering the fact that large industrial lenses can be used to achieve high efficiency of evaporation than using fossils fuel to save fossils fuel.

Does anyone have any information if a pilot project is already carried out by using this technique? Of course it will need a closed environment which will of course costly but it can be done on a very small level to develop the calculations and mathematics.

Can anyone update on the subject issue?

Its a very expensive procedure. But karachi sea water has untreated dirty Sewage and illegal Used oil and cheMical dumping n what not. Thats also another critical issue. May allahtallah guide our beloved country. Ameen

Desalination, the process of removing salt from water, is expensive. Although large-scale desalination plants are running around the world—generally where it's cheaper than pumping water from far away—there aren't nearly enough to provide fresh water everywhere it's needed.

Desalinated water typically costs about $2,000 an acre foot — roughly the amount of water a family of five uses in a year. The cost is about double that of water obtained from building a new reservoir or recycling wastewater, according to a 2013 study from the state Department of Water Resources.May 29, 2014

Current methods require about 14 kilowatt-hours of energy to produce 1,000 gallons of desalinated seawater. So we can conclude that cost of distillation is high because we need notable large amount of electricity to heat water in thermal plant and generate high pressure.

At least three principle methods of desalination exist: thermal, electrical, and pressure. The oldest method, thermal distillation, has been around for thousands of years. In thermal distillation, the water is boiled and then the steam is collected, leaving the salt behind.

For thermal plant, we need steam at very high pressure.

You are right then need to burn electricity and ? we either way short in karachi etc.
Ok sorry idea is
1. Its not do able in Karachi. But in other areas of Sindh and Baluchistan. Since around Karachi, its very expensive and you need a good portion of reservoir.
2. We need a confined space to pump water either from sea or ground by using solar power.
The advantage from ground will be that you will not have solid particles. But question is about dissolved impurities.
3. The confined space shall receive maximum of Sun heat to vaporize the water. This can be achieved by light reflectors. Since its very clear that these reflectors can vaporize or boil water easily.
4. These vapors shall be sucked in towards condensation unit where again condensation shall be carried out by the solar power. And pure water is available for use.
