That is the real difference between a democratic party and family run parties. In democratic parties you argue on ideological points even with your close friends within your party. Hilary ran against Obama in 2008, but the same Hilary was his Foreign Secretary later.
I'd like to see similar practices running in PTI but thanks to our media and social media activists, for not giving space to it to flourish. I recall when Fawad Chaudhry criticized Sharifs election to PAC chairmanship, everybody started running on top of him!

Trump took office in Jan 2017 with a Anti Pakistan posture. Every one in Pakistan's Foreign Office and Govt knew and hence no one approached TRUMP for a relationship immideiately after his victory.
In July 2017, i.e, six months later Nawaz left the PMship and after that only a Idiot will believe that Nawaz wanted to meet TRUMP

The source you have quoted is of Jerusalem Post (Israeli source) and I felt free to go through it. Here's what they're saying:
Pakistan want Talibans to meet Afghan Govt. and Zalmay Khalilzad in Islamabad, but Taliban rejected that proposal, stating that they do not want to meet Zalmay Khalilzad because of straying from the agreed agenda in earlier meetings. US want Afghan Govt. to be on board, but Talibans don't want to do any deal them at all as they see them as an illegitimate puppet regime.
So, they rejected talks in Islamabad because of US appointed representative Zalmay Khalilzad and involvement of Afghan Govt.
