ashoka was a local ruler . he had no impact on global level.

What is Global level ?
He is Known and respected by half of the world and had left his influence over Half of the Humanity of this World--- Sub-continent, China , Mongolia , Japan and South East Asia
No king in this world has influenced such a big number of People in World History nor Alexander nor Cyrus
It seems that you see this world with European prism --- believe me soon when the story of this King will reach Europe they will too surrender to the legacy of Ashoka

What was so great about Ashoka? He was an extreme asshole killing and burning 100s of thousands for the smallest reasons before he became a Buddhist and after he became one, he mostly just worked on spreading Buddhism and wasting time in buddisht artifacts but still carrying on his killings but to a much lesser extent.
Dear, if you admire him, read about him and tell your family members about him. Why pushing others to read and admire about him?
