Some people appear to be naive and unaware of the character Akbar Bugti was.

In an Interview with the economist (full Interview is available on the above link) in 2006

Bugti states in the Interview shamelessly:

“What is better than seeing your enemies driven before you and [HI]then taking their women to bed[/HI]”

Why are people complaining about the death of this monster who took pride in raping women! This feudal took pride in killing his enemies mercilessly-why should anyone be sad at his death?

If the army killed this person the officers should be given the highest award in the land for killing this sick rapist!

Shame upon those pathetic people who defend this pedo!

Full Article:

THE castle belonging to Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti in Dera Bugti, a small town in Pakistan's western province of Baluchistan, stands like an epitaph to a lost battle. The walls have been ruined by cannon fire. Most of the local residents have fled. Those who remain in the town are mostly renegade Bugtis, of a clan opposed to Mr Bugti's God-like rule over the tribe. A few years ago, Mr Bugti drove them from Dera Bugti. But, since he began squabbling with the government, which set its troops on him last year, it has carted them back. “He's finished,” says one of their protectors, a colonel in Pakistan's frontier corps. “People want change

Few in Baluchistan would disagree with the second claim. It is Pakistan's biggest and poorest province: a vast expanse of arid plains and brittle hills, home to 5m people, half of whom are impoverished. It produces most of Pakistan's natural gas—including 40% from a single gasfield, at Sui, on Mr Bugti's land—yet, until recently, almost no Baluch village had access to gas. Thus marginalised, the province has arisen in insurgency every decade or so since Pakistan's creation. The biggest, in the mid-1970s, sucked in 80,000 troops and cost 8,000 lives.

The latest uprising, led by Mr Bugti, a former interior minister, now nearly 80 years old, and two other tribal lords, or sardars, has raged for the past 18 months. After the government shelled Dera Bugti last year, Mr Bugti took to the hills on camel-back to direct the insurgency, armed with a Kalashnikov and a satellite telephone. Last December, after rockets were fired at a rally attended by Pakistan's president, Pervez Musharraf, the army began assaulting him there.

To reach the cave Mr Bugti calls home, your correspondent trekked for a week through scorched valleys and moonlit hills, circumventing army pickets. Though half-crippled by thrombosis, [HI]Mr Bugti, who claims to have killed his first man at the age of twelve, was in good spirits.[/HI] “It is better to die quickly in the mountain than slowly in bed,” he said, surrounded by a silent crowd of Bugti gunmen. [HI]A fan of Nietzsche and Genghis Khan[/HI], he speaks perfect English and delights in punctiliously-pronounced discourses on the love-life of camels and wreaking horrible revenge on his foes. [HI]“What is better than seeing your enemies driven before you and then taking their women to bed?” he says.
[/HI]

While Bugti tribesmen harry the army, a mysterious outfit, the Baluchistan Liberation Army, which the government says is also run by the sardars, is attacking policemen and soldiers across the province. Both groups are believed to have received assistance from India, across the nearby porous border with Afghanistan. In the past few years, 400 Pakistani soldiers have been killed in the conflict, as well as several hundred people in army attacks. Pakistan's Human Rights Commission has documented government atrocities, including a massacre of 12 civilians in January.

For General Musharraf, this has become a serious headache. [HI]Gas supplies to Pakistan's main towns have been interrupted by attacks on Baluchistan's pipelines and gasfields.[/HI] Construction of a vast new port, at the Baluch village of Gwadar, has been occasionally disrupted. Across Pakistan, meanwhile, for reasons including rising inflation and his pro-America policies, the general is fast becoming unpopular; and the Baluch insurgents have drawn sympathy.
[HI]
Mr Bugti has a dreadful history of oppressing his people,[/HI] yet the grievances he claims to be fighting for are real. Moreover, Pakistanis see the conflict as an extension of an even more unpopular campaign General Musharraf is waging against Pushtun Islamic fundamentalists in the northern tribal areas. In the past two years, for no obvious gain, over 600 soldiers have been killed there—including six on June 26th in a suicide bomb attack in North Waziristan tribal agency.

If only General Musharraf would listen to the aggrieved Baluch, his more level-headed critics say, worse violence could be averted. But that looks unlikely. In May 2005, a parliamentary committee proposed 32 sensible ways to placate them, including increased development spending and a local stake in the port at Gwadar. None of these has been taken up. And General Musharraf's hand is growing heavier. Across Baluchistan, thousands have been arrested, often merely because of their alleged nationalist opinions. An alliance between feudal tribes, like the Bugtis, and more enlightened nationalists, who despise the sardari system, has been forged by shared suffering.

“We are no longer fighting for autonomy but for survival,” says Akhtar Mengal, leader of the Baluchistan National Party (BNP), and son of another sardar. The BNP has been holding mass rallies across Baluchistan, including in the capital, Quetta, attended by teachers, doctors and students, as well as bearded tribesmen. “Our demand is simple,” he says: “Maximum autonomy; or we too will take to the mountains and fight for independence.”

General Musharraf is believed to be sincere in wanting to bring greater prosperity to Baluchistan—and to make it the hub of Pakistan's energy sector. Yet he seems convinced that to end its insurgency, he has only to crush the bothersome sardars. In that, though, he is wrong.

Ali how old are you?

Do you have the basic understanding of war mechanics?

Whenever a tribe or country for that matter is attacked and taken over, the invading victorious army always takes women.

This has happened since the time humans evolved on this planet.

This does not make this behaviour correct but for a soldier who has just defied death and taken over an enemy, bedding is an important factor.

Pakistans most recent history outside its borders was 1970s, where thousands of Bengali women were raped by Pakistani army soldiers. Its a known and accepted fact.

Raping, looting is a common war phenomenon, though despicable but for the soldier it becomes "right of conquest" matter.

but no man will go to war, kill another man, survive death and not get laid.

Iraq, Afghanistan, Veitnam, Roman Empire, Crusades...its all the same. Victorious men over taking and bedding with the enemy's women.

“What is better than seeing your enemies driven before you and then taking their women to bed”

**I just want to add that this is not Akbar Bugti's own saying. It is actually originally said by Genghis Khan. And Here it is:
“The greatest happiness is to scatter your enemy, to drive him before you, to see his cities reduced to ashes, to see those who love him shrouded in tears, and to gather into your bosom his wives and daughters.” - Genghis Khan

This means Mr Bugti has been reading up on Genghis Khan. ;)

The Mushie's toilet cleaners are in action.

These types of folks living in western countries wouldn't know Pakistan and its realities even if they are born thousand times.

How much different is this argument from that used by colonists and imperialists and Americans at present to invade other countries and occupying them?

Musharraf, is himself a murderer, a drunkard, a womanizer, a killer of thousands of tribal people and Balochis. How about a foreign power killing this chap citing his brutality when he was in office or even now?

So things are not as simple. Whatever Bughti was, he was representing a big section of Balochis, a people who have been discriminated, abused and exploited by Pakistani army - truth be told.

And there is something called "RULE OF LAW" - giving someone due trial.

But the toilet-cleaners, immature, good-for-nothing, finger-smelling, sitting-in-the-comfort-of-western-countries, stupid creatures won't understand that!

Can you copy the whole article here.
cant access it. Thanks

I dont like quote mining, you can take any quote of anyone and make it look bad,
Take Mushi for instance. Remember when their was a lot of Hullabalo about him after
Mukhtara mai case, where they said Mush said women get raped in Pakistan for making money.

Sounds bad no? WP later quitely released the audio of the interview to prove he said it.
Interview with Pakistan president Musharraf - washingtonpost.com

In proper context if you hear that quote its not conversational all. Mush did not say anything stupid.
And I am a person who absolutely hates his guts.

For Bugti you are advocating for his Extra judicial Murder.
Do read up on him.
Compared to Mush he is a saint and a patriot.

This is an animal behavior and history alone is not a justification to continue it in modern civilized world.

Yes it is but for the soldier on the ground, it does not matter.

There is a difference between surviving 100,000 bullets, watching your comrades die in the hands of the enemy, then finally killing and taking over your enemy and sitting in the comfort of our homes and watching the war zone on CNN, BBC or some tricky thread on Siasat.pk.

Once the enemy is dead, its time to get laid for the brave hearts. This is how the war, which is a very dirty game, works. We should all know this before jumping on the emotional airplane.

The phenomenon is as old as the entire human race.

If you can give me an example of a war where rape is a not a ground reality then I will retract my statements.

No its not a fact but a proven blatant lie.

What is "accepted fact"? never hear of it before.

1. I don't agree Pakistan's army raped Thousands of bangalis, it did happen, but a slot of those were raped by mukti bahni( hindu org) who were dressed as Pakistani soldiers.
2. If US Army did it in Iraq and Roamn's did it where ever they were etc... it does not justify me and you,we go and do that in our cities, same with Bugti, he as a leader of his tribe, he should not be saying things like this.
3. What the Bugti's / Baloch lib Army is doing ? Can you justify that ? Maybe Musharraf's action was result of that, though it was wrong and i hate Musharaf.

You still did not get the points raised in the post.

Yes rape should not happen in wars or other forms of conflicts but it does because this is what the human nature is.

Rape is unacceptable but this is a common practice in war times.
