PESHAWAR: District Administration on Wednesday retrieved nine thousand kilograms of lemons stored for drawing illegitimate profit from the masses during the month of Ramazan.
According to the representative of the Deputy Commissioner Peshawar, a raid was conducted on secret information and as much as nine thousand kilograms of the lemons were retrieved from cold storage kept for making an illegitimate profit from the masses during the holy month.
The spokesperson has also revealed that all the lemons were packed in bags and were stored for creating unnecessary price hike. However, all the lemon was retrieved and sold in the market on genuine price in the supervision of Assistant Commissioner Sara Rehman and the warehouse owner was fined Rs one hundred thousand in this regard.
The authorities have also warned the storage mafia that if any such item will be recovered in bulk quantity it will lead to the seizure of warehouse and the retrieved goods will be taken into the custody of the government.
