U.S. Military Presence in the Middle East

Given today's warning out of f Tehran and its outspoken military stance of the past few weeks, this map, we originally ran on December 12, offers a bit of perspective.
This is the world Iran sees from inside its borders. This map from Democratic Underground puts a star on every U.S. military base in the region, and aside from the Caspian area to the North, American forces pretty much have Tehran surrounded (via Informed Comment).
Iran wound down its 10 day naval exercises today with the successful test of a medium range missile, and a warning for the U.S. not to send any aircraft carriers back into the Persian Gulf.
Fars news agency reported that Ataollah Salehi said "We usually don't repeat our warning, and we warn only once. We recommend and emphasize to the American carrier not to return to the Persian Gulf." (via Bloomberg)
On December 27, Tehran said it photographed the USS John C. Stennis slipping through the Strait of Hormuz with the guided missile cruiser the USS Mobile Bay.

Re: U.S. Military Presence in the Middle East

I do wish good for General Iranian Population. Iran should back out, reduce there weapon expenditure, do not expose there Citizen to collective punishment.

What will they Gain out of all this, No Muslim Country consider them Muslims, then why fight for some vague Islamic cause, just walk away like all other Muslim countries have done, and enjoy what this world has to offer. Don't the Iranian Government witness lavish life style of those Arab Kings and Sultan. Its time Ayatollah had some worldly fun too.

Live and let live. Who cares.
