US current and former ambassadors meet Imran Khan: Imran emphasizes respect of sovereignty & end to drone attacks

American Ambassador to Pakistan Cameron Munter and former Ambassador Robin Raphael called on the Chairman Pakistan Tehrik Insaaf Imran Khan in the central secretariat of the party in Islamabad today.



In the meeting Mr. Imran Khan reiterated his long stated stance that the problem of terrorism Pakistan faces today is because of its partnership in the American war in Afghanistan. He said, that while Pakistan Tehrik e Insaaf believes in having good relations with all countries including United States, it strongly believes that this partnership cannot be at the cost of Pakistan’s national interest. If the US wants friendship with the people of Pakistan it should stop violating its sovereignty through drone attacks and other incursions inside its territory.



Mr. Imran Khan also strongly condemned the unprovoked attack on the Sallala outposts in which twenty four Pakistani soldiers embraced Shahadat. Other matters of mutual interest in the region were also discussed.



PTI reiterates that it does not believe in meeting foreign dignitaries in secret as some media reports have suggested. The canard of Mr. Imran Khan meeting senior American officials in Dubai is a complete fabrication. Mr. Khan also does not believe in saying one thing in public and another in private. This has been the practice of many others as the recent disclosures in Wikileaks showed. All the meetings of Mr. Imran Khan and whatever he says are and will always remain the public domain.

US ambassador Munter fools Imran Khan . Called him for 1-to-1 closed meeting but ended up bringing 4 US officials. Imran was alone. None of Imran's advisers were with him.
Most of the Pakistanis are saying that it's alright, Imran Khan is good enough to handle the Americans but that's exactly what we said about Musharraf in 2001.

-Imran Khan says PTI is "Absolutely Comfortable" Working with US, Munter says US is "comfortable with PTI's Ideology"

-If Cameron Munter says he likes your ideology then that should be self explanatory.

-US is striving hard to gain popular public support, and in the face of Imran Khan, this support could serve its purpose

-PTI told the US that we would not do anything which could destroy the precious Pak-US relations, nor do we intend to provoke the superpower

-The PTI leadership had initially denied the Imran-Munter meeting, until the US ambassador admitted on a talk show that he had met Imran more than once, but never in the presence of DG ISI General Shuja Pasha.

-Those of you who wanted a "revolution by PTI", should think again a thousand times more now.
