Need Your feedback on some changes on Siasat.pk (thumbnail)

Salam Guys,

I am sure you have noticed the thumbnails with titles on the main page.

Basically we added a modification, so when you create a thread, it will look for an image on the first post, if no image then it will look for youtube video and display it.

If there is no image, it doesn't display anything. looks like this.(looks pretty ugly)



First of all I need your feedback. I personally think it is easier to pick out the thread you want to view. Especially when it comes to talk shows.

To all the thread creators, If you add an interesting image when posting an article or anything you want to discuss. Grab an appropriate image related to your title and post it with your content. This way, you will get a lot more views as well.

Anyhow, it is just my idea and implication. I look forward to read your comments.

This has also implemented on all sections as well. For example if you go to siasai videos. You will see it there as well.

Good idea. it makes easy to see inside story of the Thread just seeing the thumbnail, as poet said:
"Khat ka mazmoon bhanp letay hain lifafa dekh kar"

That can be done but I want to convince the thread starters to post an appropriate image related to the content. Wouldn't that look alot better?

Good thinking. I don't see any harm in including a picture, will definitely make it easier to identify threads IMO.

The previous design was better i think. The talk show thumbnails look the same as most of the show have similar sets. plus the members thread area is not difficult, but a bit unconvienient too. Like i got used to recognising some members post by their image. I would view some members' post, and then not view others'.

i favour the last settings. i got used to it for the 2 years i've been coming to this site.

at first, i thought siasat.pk got hacked

secondly, you are not only right by saying that no pic (snowflake) is ugly.. let me divide the word ugly by zero.. then u will know how ugly it looks let it be user's choice.. if he doesnt choose any pic for the post.. let the avatar pic being displayed.. but plzzzz not that snowflake pic

furthermore... i would like to suggest that only talk shows (which appears on 'latest talk shows' section) should have video pic..it gets easy to see which guest are on the show (if its not mentioned in the description) often i see a siasi video name with date only.. no description

I would also appreciate if you add 'previous button' especially on 'latest talk shows' section.. its cumbersome to type it on search option for the previously dated videos.. i hope u understood what i am saying...

lastly, change is always welcomed... it makes siasat.pk exciting

Thanks Brother, change is always welcome ..... well, honestly speaking we are familiar with the previous lay out, in talk shows I think it should not changed as majority of us not familiar with the names of shows/anchors except some renowned anchors or shows .....

As far as the member's thread portion is concerned ..... now its quite difficult to recognise the thread poster quickly as the avatar of the poster not being shown, I think ..... it is also hard to chose ..... that what the end user wants/not want to read/see cz you know most of the users are very familiar here & people love to read/see their thread or post, on the contrary most of the users does not want to read post of the some posters having negative goodwill in respect of their die hard relation with their political affiliation/views/most of the time used abusive language/hypocrites etc .... like in my case when I see the post from JU,AH,MA,FI etc (not mention the names) I simply ignore their threads & move forward .....

In last I would like to mention it again that change is always welcome, let the new layout run for some time ..... later on we will see the results ...

Adeel bhai its good idea...... we welcome any pleasant changes.......... BUT please make the SEARCH easy or provide a back button for previous shows as mentioned by next2saint brother.............

Also If you had the experience of browsing previous talk shows/siasi videos, the search is displayed by the most recent COMMENTED show..... means if someone just post a comment on two weeks earlier talk show, it will appear first in the column than the recent one or 2 days old show in the siasi video section......... I hope you will understand what I meant to say.....

Can we ask the forum members to select an avatar of their liking at the time of registration?
The Idea of the picture is great, let us wait and see how it goes.
