Iran digging graves for US troops if they attack

TEHRAN: Iran has dug mass graves in which to bury US troops in case of any American attack on the country, a former commander of the elite Revolutionary Guard said.

The digging of the graves was in response to a statement by the chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, Adm. Mike Mullen, last week that the US military has a contingency plan to attack Iran, although he thinks a military strike is probably a bad idea.

The US and some of its allies accuse Iran of using its civilian nuclear program as a cover to build nuclear weapons. Iran has denied the charges, saying its nuclear program is geared merely toward generating electricity, not bomb.

Gen. Hossein Kan'ani Moghadam, who was the Guard's deputy commander during the 1980s, said graves have been dug in Iran's southwestern Khuzestan province, where Iran buried Iraqi soldiers killed during the ruinous 1980-88 war between the Islamic republic and Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein's regime.

"The mass graves that used to be for burying Saddam's soldiers have now been prepared again for US soldiers, and this is the reason for digging this big number of graves," Moghadam told The Associated Press Television News late Monday. He did not say how many were prepared.

Footage obtained by APTN showed a large number of empty, freshly dug graves in a desert region of Khuzestan. The digging of the graves was first reported earlier this week by Iran's semiofficial news agency Fars.

Moghadam repeated warnings that Iran will retaliate against US bases in the Gulf if there is an attack on Iran. The US Navy's 5th Fleet headquarters is based just across the Gulf from Iran in Bahrain.

If US forces attack, "Iran will have no choice but to strike the American bases in the region," he said. "The heavy costs of such a war will not be just on the Islamic Republic of Iran. America and other countries should accept that this would be the start of an extensive war in the region." The war of words has intensified between Iran and the United States after the UN Security Council imposed a fourth round of tougher sanctions in June in response to Iran's refusal to halt uranium enrichment, a technology that can be used to produce nuclear fuel or material for an atomic bomb.

The US and Israel have said military force could be used if diplomacy fails to stop what they suspect is an Iranian nuclear weapons program.

but how can you blame them ? Iran is under UN sanctions ... They are struggling to make their ends meet .. their passenger plains are being refused the oil refill too

so how can we expect they can help much ? US aid would cost nothing to them probably .. it is appreciated nonetheless ...

bhai, Iran is undergoing major sanction, embargo by the Head of the Church of Satan (Barak H. Obama). Its the Iran's determination and khilafat that they are united and strong. All these American crap of 911, bin Laden, and invasion on Afghanistan has only ONE purpose, to form a ring around Iran. US forces on East in Afghan, Turkey on the West, Israel on the far north, But their plan seemed to have gone bust due to large scale death of soldiers. Free masons also have inadvertently helped us. Look at the US economy, its a shame to the country to think they are paying billions$ just in interest to Free Masons. Over a trillion$ in debt.

Iran has reasons for not contributing to our disasters. Besides, we always rush to our master sitting in the white house. When was the last time our govt flew to an Islamic country and asked for help.

i wish some Islamic country could do what ever they say.Iranian leaders no doubt making such statements which r impressive but remember that Saddam Hussain also made bigger statements than what Iranians r making. we must not forget that Americans r the most ruthless nation, they dropped 2 atom bombs on Japan killing millions of innocent people just because Pearl Harbour was attacked by Japnies air force.so Iran should not forget the history and must not make any foolish move to attack US bases in this area unless Iranians r capable enough to reply US neuc moves.otherwise the devastation shall not be restricted to Iran only but we and other neighbors shall be facing adverse effects,and whole world shall face oil crises.Europe and America can survive after effects but not the Muslim world specially poor countries.

US / Israel / UK will not attack Iran. They are just calling bluff. They can accomplish worse impact by using technology such HAARP etc than invading by force.

The current HAARP effect in Pakistan creating flood may have been a testing process for perfection.

In my personal view they would create a major earthquake in Iran speically at the site of nuke facility. They did cause Tsunami in Indonesia by upsetting the balance of sea bed by testing undersea HAARP.

By the way, just to make it clear, the US may not be doing it officially. It may be the joint effort of the CIA and Mossad. CAI IS out of control. Its no longer a civilian-controlled agency. The do lot of things that the president doesnt even know or has authorized - $15million Iran donation to contra rebels thru US which only Col Oliver North knew, and Ronald Reagan had no knowledge of that
