Prayer leader arrested for fabricating evidence in Rimsha Masih case

Police have arrested prayer leader Khalid Jadoon on charges of fabricating evidence, which he had used to accuse Rimsha Masih of committing blasphemy by allegedly burning Quranic pages, Express News reported early on Sunday.


Express News correspondent Qamarul Munawar said that Hafiz Muhammad Zubair, who witnessed Jadoon adding pages of the Quran, recorded a statement with the Rawalpindi magistrate on Saturday.

According to Zubair’s account, he was sitting in Iteqaaf in the mosque when some people handed burnt pages to the prayer leader. After a little while, Jadoon added additional pages of the Quran to the pile.

Zubair, in his statement added that three other people present with him in the mosque asked Jadoon why he was adding documents to the pile of burnt paper, to which prayer leader said that such an act was necessary to strengthen their case.

Munawar reported that Islamabad police has now arrested Jadoon who are now questioning him.

Rimsha has been in custody since she was arrested more than two weeks ago accused of burning Quranic papers, in breach of Pakistan’s blasphemy laws. According to medical reports Rimsha is 14 year old minor, and has a mental age below her real age.

If this is true this guy should be strung to the closest telephone pole.
How ever the reports never said pages of Quran were burnt, they said it was "Noorani Qaida".
I think the actual person behind all this is the Neighbouring women i.e Tasneem.

ISLAMABAD: A cleric who handed over a young Christian girl to police on blasphemy charges after she burned papers containing Quranic verses said Friday what she did was a “conspiracy” to insult Muslims.
Hafiz Mohammed Khalid Chishti, the imam of the mosque in the Islamabad suburb of Mehrabad, insisted he had saved the girl, Rimsha, from mob violence by handing her to police but said the incident arose because Muslims had not stopped local Christians’ “anti-Islam activities” earlier.
Rimsha was arrested and remanded in custody for a fortnight last Thursday after being accused of burning pages from a children’s religious instruction book, which were inscribed with verses from the Muslim holy text.
The youngster reportedly has Down’s Syndrome and her treatment has prompted outrage from rights groups and concern from Western governments, but Chishti insisted she was fully aware of what she was doing.
“The girl who burnt the Holy Quran has no mental illness and is a normal girl,” Chishti told AFP.
“She did it knowingly, this is a conspiracy and not a mistake. She confessed what she did.”
Chishti claimed the local Christian community had previously caused antagonism by playing music in services at their makeshift church during Muslim prayer time and said burning the pages was deliberate.
“They committed this crime to insult us further. This happened because we did not stop their anti-Islam activities before,” he said.
“Last Christmas, they played musical instruments and there was vulgarity in the streets during our prayers time. I warned them but they did not stop.”
During his sermon at Friday prayers Chishti told worshippers it was “time for Muslims to wake up” and protect the Holy Quran.
Mehrabad is home to around 500 Christian families but many fled after the page-burning, fearing a repeat of a 2009 incident in Gojra, in which young Muslim radicals burned Christian houses, killing seven, after a rumour that a page from the Holy Quran had been desecrated during a wedding.
Chishti said that on the day of the incident he went to Rimsha’s home after people showed him the papers she had burned, and he found an angry crowd outside and three or four Muslim women attacking her.
“Some women were beating her and other people were trying to break her arms when I rescued her,” he said.
Chishti said the girl confessed to burning the pages and insisted he had averted major violence by handing her over to police.
“People were demanding to burn their house, but I went to police and called them to avoid a major incident,” he said.
“I had the Gojra incident in my mind, when Muslims burnt the whole Christians’ colony. I did not want to repeat that.”
Police have registered a case against more than 150 people for damaging property during the protest after the incident but Chishti insisted nobody from the area was involved.
“I did not invite people to protest against the Christians. The people who protested against the incident were from some other area,” he said.
“The cleric who announced on loud speaker was also from another mosque and he did it outside this village. We have no link to that.”

Thanks to Zubair whose conscious finally force him to tell the truth about Rimsha case. why Imam masjid khalid jadoon acted like so inhuman to trap a young 12 years mentally retarded girl ? what he was trying to show his "Allah" that he cares him a lot even he have to stab someone's back. This act is unforgivable and he should get the maximum punishment so no one else ever try to do like this. No wonder our minorities are so scared in a country which came into existence on the name of "Islam" but people did't know until now ,there are more animals than human in this nation. I had written in the past that "Blasphemy" law should be amended becaue this is a racist and predudice law not only against minorities but also muslims as well because of personal vendetta but the Ulema start making a big fuss about it and start doing the long march . Gen Zia who initiated this law ,we know what kind of terrible death he had, dont want to elaborate .Let the religion separate from politics otherwise this country will keep on going the sectarian warfare for ever. If you give religious leaders one feet space, they will stretch it to one KM . Is there any eye witness Rimsha 14 year old girl burning Quran? This whole thing looks very suspitious why a 12 year old retarded will burns Quran. What she had to gain? You can not exclude minority element and their clergy. There is possiblity some sources are using them to creat such issues to prpopagate against Pakistan's core religious values. Look at BBC they are first to cover such incidents how come you don't see them covering victms of drone attacks.
