Sania Mirza turns down offer from Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi

Sania Mirza has turned down an offer to partner Pakistan's Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi in the international circuit despite the Pakistani expressing interest to play alongside the Indian tennis star several times in the past.

Sania is currently partnering India's Mahesh Bhupathi, while Aisam is now playing limited mixed doubles events, partnering Czech Republic's Andrea Hlavackova on the court.

"I'm playing quite well with Bhupathi in grand slams so I don't think I need to change anything right now," "Playing with Aisam right now is not possible," she added.

Sania, who is married to former Pakistan cricket captain Shoaib Malik, also ruled out playing in Pakistan in the near future despite an invitation from the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF).

The PTF has been keen on getting Sania to play exhibition matches or give coaching in Pakistan ever since she got married to Malik.

The Indian, however, ruled that out too, citing complete absence of international tournaments in Pakistan.

"I haven't asked for a huge pay cheque in order to feature in charity matches in Pakistan. But as far as competitive matches are concerned, there are, unfortunately, no international tournaments taking place in Pakistan for obvious reasons. So there's no chance I can play there," she said.

Why would an Indian be sincere to Pakistan? We love Pakistan as a neighbor as long as there are no Hafiz Sayeed's. In India, sportsman/women behave like professionals, this is especially true in individual games like tennis or chess etc., Even Vishwanathan Anand was quoted as Spanish national when they granted him citizenship, he did play behind Indian flag in every international match. (including the one he won recently). It is true about Sania Mirza as well.

Re: Sania Mirza turns down offer from Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi

For every one Hafiz Saeed there are a hundred Bal Thakarey's and Narendra Modi's in India. The court found HS innocent of the Mumbai attacks so the matter is closed because Bharat can NEVER bully us!

We don't need Sania, i can understand her apprehension in playing in Pakistan as we're not really a nation associated with Tennis and neither is she a top class player whose coaching lesson's will have any value. Instead we should concentrate on regaining our lost glory in Squash , a Sport that we have dominated unlike India who are also rans in all Sports apart from Cricket.

If she accepted the offer then now she could be Sania Qureshi.
Whereas now Shoaib Malik is Shoaib Mirza.
