Lionel Messi scores 50 goals in a season and dwarfs the record of

Since his first league brace against Villarreal last August right through a magnificent four goals in the derby against Espanyol, Lionel Messi has scored 50 goals in the domestic championship to break the record set a year earlier by Cristiano Ronaldo. The 41 scored by the Portuguese international in the 2010/11 season were smashed by almost ten goals.

First ... Ronaldo scored 42 that year, not 41 ... he was top scorer in the world ... he was a winger, not even a striker, while messi is a striker who usually plays a little deep in the hole

last year messi scored 31 league goals while ronaldo 40

this year messi scored 50 while ronaldo scored 46

total for Barca ... Messi scored 253 goals in 329 games
total for Madrid... Ronaldo scored 146 goals in 144 games

Being and arsenal supporter i also admire man utd. Huge respect for what ferguson has acheived with this club over 20yrs .who else could dare to sustain glory then him . Next in line is Arsene wenger who also have same kind of respect in his club . Rest of the lot specially man city and chelsea bought sucess with billions of money spent on them. they bought sucess didnt earn it with their own resources.
