“No more” to fake liberals

Extremism and intolerance are the words which are normally associated with today’s Pakistan, and yes somehow we have to admit that. 10 years of this “war of terror” really raised the intensity of extremism, but there are two sides of this extremism. Organizations like TTP (Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan) and BLA (Balochistan Liberation Army) are just the one side of it; the other side is the organizations like SAFMA (South Asian Free Media Association) who are involved in ideological extremism in Pakistan. These elements are involved in distorting the ideological concepts of Pakistan and normally hide themselves under the cover of “freedom of speech” and liberalism. Extremist groups like TTP and BLA are getting harsh treatment by our Armed forces, but the problem is that who will deal with such type of groups who are working against the interest of Pakistan on ideological grounds.


It is not just the responsibility but a duty of all patriots to defend the ideological boundaries of Pakistan. This is not understandable that how someone can talk rubbish about “Two nation theory” and about our founding fathers or against armed forces of Pakistan, Is such attitude acceptable in any other society? It is our prime duty to expose such elements and it is very easy to spot such people, most of such elements are busy in propaganda against our armed forces and rest are busy in promoting Indian agenda in Pakistan. Let’s decide now that we will not allow such people to work against the interest of Pakistan. We respect freedom of speech but it should not cross the limits of accepted norms of any country or society.


Now the question is that how should we do that? I accept the fact that main stream media is full of such elements that are not projecting Pakistani version on many issues, and anti Pakistan group is also very prominent in main stream media. But now we will not give them any breathing space, we have the power of social media and we will use it. We will confront everyone who found talking rubbish against Pakistan, enough is enough. We have to say “no more” to these fake liberals who are destroying and distorting the facts and promoting foreign agenda in Pakistan.

I am not doubting your intention or patriotism. And, I am okay with putting strict limits on what could be said about the state itself and its foundations but not being able to criticize the excesses or the military establishment is not going to help rather weaken the state. If there was no history of the military establishment contravening the constitution or letting military dictators rule us for over 30 years of the short lifespan of our country and ruining the institutions or the accountability and gifting us with people like zardari or sharifs or chaudhries or organizations like TTP or BLA then I would agree that there was no need to sometime criticize the military establishment.

There is a difference between agenda driven and foreign influenced liberal extremists as you call them and sincere people who see excesses by people among us whether they are part of military or civil establishment who have weakened the foundations from within and without much help from outside. To call these actors out is being more patriotic and nationalistic in my opinion and it doesnt really matter which strata of the society or which institution they belong to.

This is a slippery slope when we become the thought police....it creates more problems than its intended to solve. Read up on history of countries where this process was initiated by zealots and what were the results of that and how it was viewed in the history books.
