Points to ponder: Dangers within: Goverment needs to be crystal clear.

Dear friends.
We have grown up listening to politicians stating "Pakistan is waqt apni taareekh kay bohat nazuk daur say guzar raha hai" But this time no one needs to tell us that, we know it is so. We can feel it in the air in our blood and in our bones. I fear for my country but then I am reminded that "Musalman museebat mein ghabraya naheen karta" As stated by our Quaid-e-Azam and the fact that Allah says Musalman does not fear or grieve, for if we have faith in Allah then we only do what we sincerely believe is right and Allah will take care of the rest, Insha Allah.
In times of such trying our faith is what helps us to keep our sanity and composure and our ability to make the right decisions without fear of what might the opposing forces do to us if we do not comply with their demands. But friends we have already tried to do that and look what they have done to us and for us? Do you think that any more of "Do More " will satisfy them? No. Because what they REALLY want from us is very different from what they SAY they want from us, and this is only an open secret now. It is time to call a spade a spade. It is time to state our questions very clearly to them. It is time to stand up for our rights. It is time to be one for united we stand.

I just wanted to state the following for all of us to consider for there is a lot of confusion created over the years and without a doubt all have made mistakes and transgressed our boundaries, sometimes forced but sometimes just because we did not want to deal with a tough situation so we took the easy way out.

From what I have been able to understand of the system in our country it is that:
1---The civilian government is the guide for the nation because the democratic government comes to power on the WILL of the people and it is their duty to exert the WILL of the people and nothing else.It is also the responsibility of the civilian governments to take the decisions for the betterment of the nation and if any element of the government is not doing what it is supposed to be doing then to rectify within the ambit of the law and constitution of the country. The civilian government can not compare itself to a non-civilian form of government for then they loose their prerogative. This is not to justify that Army has taken over three times only to emphasize that civil government has a different status.
2---Enemy needs to be defined clearly to the defenders so there is no ambiguity in the time of crisis. Unless this is done there can not be proper preparation against any threat posed.
3---The president of the nation is the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed forces and it is thus his responsibility to lay out a clear plan for the Armed forces to defend their country's geographical boundaries under whatever circumstances they be. This means that clear plan has to be in place for it to be followed. This is the way things work any where in the world, and this is the way of our Prophet Mohammed (SAWW).
4---Now the whole nation is in turmoil and accusing the Army and Air force for not doing what they should have but please do understand that ENEMY needs to be defined very clearly for we do not want to be treating non enemy in the same way as an enemy. It is easy for all of us to say to do this or that but lets assume that the Army/ Air force had shot the choppers down and then the president would have said that I did not order that and once again the two Forces would have been declared non obedient and autonomous.
5---Wiki leaks have stated very clearly that our PM and President have been saying one thing to the Americans and another to the nation and that has not been refuted by either one of them. So do you think that there would be clarity on issues by them? It serves their purpose to keep things confused for that is the way most of our leaders have been working and wiggling out of their responsibilities.
6---Now once again the PM has said that Cooperation between CIA and ISI is over, to the times magazine but how many of us believe it to be true? who knows what promise he has made to the US maybe a similar one as disclosed by the Wiki leaks in the past?
7---The president is quiet to date, he has not said anything about his responsibility as Commander-in-Chief and is causing more confusion. In this time of need to be with the people who have chosen him to take care of them he is absent, careless and disconnected with the nation. I believe he is also not serious about his responsibility as the C-i-C, to me this is very dangerous as he is not reliable.
8---As for the Armed forces they need to do their job but they also have system of working. They are between a rock and a hard place, partly because of their past deeds. But we need to remember that that was the previous Army chief who was bailed out by this present government. Why he was not tried by the court? If he was given a clean chit by the present politicians and they also chose to carry out all the plan that was devised during his tenure then what are they crying over? The present PM and President chose to let him go, they chose to follow his policies and did nothing to change them so in fact they were and are in agreement with the plans, the only difference is that they are trying to fool us by not stating that clearly so when ever it suits them they can place the blame squarely on his shoulders and save their skins for another day of rule.
9---The current Armed forces are different and should not be judged on the basis of their predecessors, unfortunately the faces of the civilian government are the same for the past so may decades with only a few new ones which should be given the benefit of the doubt, BUT not Gillani,or Sharif brothers, or Shujaat, or Zardari, or all the other chronic politicians.
10--- We the citizens need to know who has what responsibility and for this reason I believe that there should be a judicial inquiry so that one we know who should have done what and do not let the responsible parties go scurrying away crying foul.
I hope we will ask the questions and even more that we will get the answers but we have to know what we are looking for and we must first understand the situation with all it's twists and turns, so that we are not be fooled, for we have been be fooled too many times.

Thoughts, comments and criticism is welcome.

I’m an admirer of your views on many issues except when it comes to the geo-political and strategic issues of Pakistan. Many of the points which you’ve raised in this blog post are in fact factually incorrect and have no relevancy to the challenges of Pakistan in a real sense First thing to note here is that after the termination of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto’s government in 1977 the Military establishment of Pakistan is running the “Major Show” in Pakistan be it in the domains of foreign affairs, economy, nuclear policy and other strategic matters. The establishment has learned not to delegate full powers to any civilian setup after the episode of ZAB which also resulted in his state controlled execution in April 1979.

As far as drawing the lines of the adversaries and enemies of Pakistan are concerned then there’s no doubt in my mind that this Army institution as a whole along with its strategic assets in the bureaucratic, political, feudal, religious and administrative circles are the biggest villains of this unfortunate state. So before focusing on the external challenges we need to deal with these parasitic leaches within the country in order to devise any strategy to get into the process of solving the imposing problems of Pakistan.

Thank you for the partial praise. I accept openly that I have many weaknesses but one thing I am sure of is that they are never based on my vested interests or some hidden motives. I try to look at things in the light of simple fact that brutal honesty is the best way forward for all of us. Gone are times when we could make facts palatable to all.
I believe that you are letting your political differences based on assumptions get in the way. Firstly how can you prove that Army is running the affairs unless the civilian government agrees with them and lets them run the affairs. If that is the case then the civilian/ democratic governments are more to blame because they come to power claiming to do as the people WILL, but they always use the same age old excuse "We do not get the power to do as we wish to do" This excuse is getting old and just a rhetoric for their incompetencies.
Even if we do believe this for the sake of discussion then it weakens the case of the democratic government even more because if they are unable to demonstrete their understanding/ power to run one department then how would you expect them to stand up to the more powerful western politicians and armies?
As for the enemy being hinted as the institution of Army I am amazed at the idea. Enemey is some one who tries to harm you and decieve you. democratic governments are always doing that on one pretext or the other and NEVER do the faces change. Same NS and PPP leadership that has been in power for the last 25 years or so. What kind of dramatic beneficial change would we expect them to bring with no change in their thinking process. I am not an advocate or an admirer of the Army rule but I have to admit that atleast the faces changes in the Army rule, for permanent, and with that comes change in thinking. If we as a nation are not able to elect better people then we should accept the changes that are brought upon us by some natural means, for that will happen.
There is so much false propoganda being done by vested interests that we need to take cognisance of the facts and have to come to a sensible conclusion as to who is responsible for what and thus place responsibility where it should be,and if they fail then some other things will happen which probably are not avoidable at the time.
Ideally the Army should not be in politics and the politics should be working for the people not against them.
