Discussion programmes on Pakistan's news channels can reach much higher standards if their hosts do some necessary homework, think about different sides of a topic and phrase their questions to prompt a meaningful discussion worthy of viewers' time.

Unfortunately, some host of shows rely too much on lazy questions and tired answers. On some shows the same tired old faces appear with such a frequency that even a school child can foretell what opinion the guest is going to offer.

Sometimes one wonders if hosts of poorly prepared talk shows aired daily with no homework done or visible can do their viewers a favour by appearing only 2-3 times a week?

Javed ch and Dr Shahid Masood dont allow the participents to say what they want to say and try to force their own ideas. Kashif Abasi is not rational and his questions are always very typical and beats atound the bush. Mushtaq Minhas is among the worst along with Dr Danish.
Hamid Mir 's questions and facts are very analytical and DR Peerzada is good in moderating and brings out fruitful discussion. Kamran Shahid is bold, more rational, and works well for his program, being impartial too. Talat Hussain , we all know is among the professionals like Hamid Mir.
Najam Sethi is in the middle, some of his programs are good but he is also sometimes one-way directed and against the SC and CJ (can feel bias in his programs against the present judiciary).
Kamran Khan is good but he is more of an investigative style. Otherwise he talks about the already heard news of the day.
In females, almost all the 3 prominent female anchors are doing okay, but they need to learn a bit more for moderation and being creative in questions.
Aftab Iqbal is more like a Master Gee rather than a compare and same is the case with Hassan Nisar, who will always see the dark side of the matter.

To me the most articulate, well organized and balanced anchor-cum-journalist among the current crop of Pakistan. Although I do have many differences on his slightly negative slant against the so called war on terror campaigns against different parts of the world including the illegal & ruthless operations in FATA, Afghan-Pak border & Baluchistan regions of Pakistan but overall for me he’s the best in this business of opinionated journalism in the world leave alone in Pakistan.

Dr. Shahid Masood

He used to be my most favourite anchor of Pakistan when he used to be with ARY One news network, however after joining the Geo News I think something strange happened to his style of working. His annoyingly persistent obsession with singular personalities, first with General P. Musharraf and then later with A.A Zardari, has led to the diminution of his crafty and objective laden innovative approach in his newly adopted profession of television journalism.

Kamran Shahid & Mazhar Abbas

I’m unable to make my third choice obvious and therefore jointly name them here on this list. Kamran though do lack some investigative skills on a given issue / subject matter but overall his choice of unique topics ranging from social and religious issues has established his career firmly in his adoptive field of electronic media’s talk show host. Mazhar to me is a complete and bona fide journalist who has stuck to the roots of his first choice profession and has acquired the necessary skills and qualifications before eventually joining in as an objective and assertive anchor of current affairs shows for ARY News network.

What I observed a common habit among all TV Anchors is that they intend to put their words in the mouth of their guests and urge to get the comments what they are portraying. Frequent interruption during the guest comments is very bad habit and most of the time annoying the TV Viewers.

Apart from this all TV Anchors are following their Media Masters and they just released the facts which are in their favor in spite of knowing much than that what they are revealing during their shows. You know theses Anchors are enjoying with the foreign diplomats and minting money which is their prime function irrespective of the national interest of Pakistan. You can watch YOU-TUBE videos where most of them are "tun" with American and in other diplomatic parties. I cannot give any grading to anyone as these are all part of one pan. We may call them "Modern Bhand".

Only factor to be considered here is the quality of presentation of each anchor and his personality like the TV, Film and Stage Actors and actresses, which is everybody's liking and disliking as per his vision.

Talat talks some sense, as he tries to put across different aspects of an issue and substantiate his arguments on that basis. However, I was surprised with his bias against Karachi. He never talked about budget contraints to Urdu Speaking areas and total discrimination in jobs etc which was the only time he lacked objectivity.
Moeed Pirzada is another good anchor. He discusses issues comprehensively. Leads discussions with short questions and does not interrupt guests unnecessarily. He is polite with good manners. His language skills are good. But, he should be little more energetic.
Najam Sethi is street smart but not objective. He sees world only through his eyes/mind and not objectively. Pragmatism overshadows principles in his case. He seems to be towing agenda of some masters. At times one doubts his sincerity to the country when he talks about our relations with India, USA, ethnic politics, Institutions of Pakistan etc. But overall he is one of the three top anchors.
