Taken from the Global Peace and Unity Event 2006 broadcast Live on The Islam Channel. George Galloway condemns the U.S. and Great Britain for killing "Afghans who reject the foreign occupation of their country." He then accuses the U.S. government of faking interest in the genocide of Darfur only to get access to steal oil resources, effectively condemning any future U.S. intervention in the area. This is at least the second year Galloway has spoken at the event, and to the best of my knowledge there was no controversy within the event's organizers about Galloway's defense of Afghan fighters. However, there was some controversy over an incident where Yusuf Islam (formerly Cat Stevens) played a guitar on stage, because many Muslims believe that music is forbidden in Islam. I have been criticized for saying this, so if you care, read this Muslim blogger's experience. She said after Yusuf Islam's performance someone came on stage and said "music is haraam" and the crowd applauded. Scroll down to the paragraph starting: "One brother did speak out"
